Sunflower seeds can make your wildest dreams come true

July 7th, 2008 · No Comments

Coming back from Ft. Worth, I didn’t have time to make lunch, so I stopped at a 7-11 and picked up some sunflower seedsm and upon reading the back of the package (since I obviously have nothing else to do), I found this gem:

Kmart sells draw string sweatpants with abstinence message

June 7th, 2008 · No Comments

I’m thinking the same thing you are right now, “Kmart’s still around?” Apparently they are, and they’re selling draw string sweatpants that say “True Love Waits” on the left thigh, and right across the ass. There’s nothing like trying to sell not having sex than by putting a message like that on pants that can come off in half a second and in a place that makes people stare at your ass and crotch.

A fool and his money

May 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Are banks operating on narrower and narrower profit margins or are they just getting greedy? The latest in financial idiocy that a lot of people won’t realize until it’s too late because they don’t teach personal finance in school anymore? Debit cards that are tied to your 401(k).
Not only can the bank be netting interest [...]

Can we get someone who speaks English to do the subtitling for [adult swim] DVD releases?

May 11th, 2008 · No Comments

Would it be too much to ask for some QA on the part of Williams Street when they hire someone to do the subtitling? I realize that shows on [adult swim] may a bit cutting edge and use some language that may not be in the vernacular, but it’s just painful watching the subtitles (a habit I got into years ago) be not just wrong, but completely ignorant of some of the jokes.

Sorry, try again

May 10th, 2008 · No Comments

What ever happened to the good old days when contests consumer contests simply either said “Sorry, try again” or “You won!”? The most complex game when I was growing up was the Monopoly game at McDonald’s. Everything else was pretty much a win or lose situation.
Nowadays, not only do you have to buy something in [...]

I’ve seen a million faces, I would rock them all, but I can only do it when I’m at this specific venue.

As Rock Band has been out for some time, Harmonix is finally starting to release their first complete albums as downloadable content, starting with Judas Priest’s Screaming For Vengeance, then eventually The Cars by The Cars, Doolittle by The Pixies, and the coup de grâce for me, Who’s Next by The Who. At $15 bucks [...]

Double whammy election post

May 6th, 2008 · No Comments

Today is the day Democrats have a chance to put the farce to rest. Of course, you just know that ain’t going to happen as long as you have both the media and the dittoheads doing everything they can to prevent that. Even if that means breaking the law to do it.
First thing on the [...]

I want my, I want my, I want my DVD

May 5th, 2008 · No Comments

I can be a bit anal retentive at times, so here’s something that really annoys me. If you’re a television studio and decide to release something on DVD, please please PLEASE release it in its entirety or don’t do it at all. Don’t release the first couple seasons and then nothing else. I’m pretty sure [...]

Usury - not just for mobsters anymore!

May 4th, 2008 · No Comments

I believe that there are few industries more evil and malicious towards their customers than credit card companies. And that’s even counting cable companies and cell phone companies. Again, I’m late to the game on this, but something caught my eye so I decided to look up a bit on this practice of universal default.

One day I started reading it not knowing what it was

April 3rd, 2008 · No Comments

Why is it that English manga (Japanese style comic books) are so expensive? A 495¥ manga will inflate to ten bucks in the United States. I realize that there are prices to licensing, translating, and things like that, but there’s no way that would double the price. Look at other Japanese products that have to [...]
