I think this article deserves one of the many many facepalm macros living out there on the tubes. Seriously.
A pair of Vietnamese valedictorians have caused quite the uproar in the bayous of Louisiana. During one of the girl’s speeches, she decided to honor her parents with a single utterance directed toward her parents in a [...]

I love inside jokes, I love references, I love webcomics, and nerdy preferences
June 29th, 2008 · 9 Comments
The latest xkcd is a great homage to a Discovery Channel commercial that pays homage to a classic campfire song. However, there are a lot of internal references to the comic that a lot of people may not understand. So, because the comics are released under a Creative Commons license, I’m able to cut apart the panels using The Gimp and have each frame of the comic link to the original comic that it’s referencing.

I hate Tom Waits
June 14th, 2008 · No Comments
I don’t care how much of a genius he apparently is, he can go screw for all I care.
I don’t even mind the voice that was apparently created by gargling with coffee and eating cigarettes, I can get around that. It’s his post-modern nonsense that I can’t stand. Take this latest interview with him in the Independent. It’s even worse than his music; it’s completely unreadable. It’s so full of ridiculous lists, I thought I had slipped and started reading House of Leaves again. Actually, I take that back. This interview is what you would get if House of Leaves were written by Rain Man.

Kmart sells draw string sweatpants with abstinence message
June 7th, 2008 · No Comments
I’m thinking the same thing you are right now, “Kmart’s still around?” Apparently they are, and they’re selling draw string sweatpants that say “True Love Waits” on the left thigh, and right across the ass. There’s nothing like trying to sell not having sex than by putting a message like that on pants that can come off in half a second and in a place that makes people stare at your ass and crotch.

Word of the day: Nonpology
June 2nd, 2008 · No Comments
According to the Urban Dictionary, the nonpology is “an insincere apology or expression of regret, often blaming the aggrieved party for being offended or bringing up an irrelevant topic to distract.”
While that’s a pretty succinct definition, I think that it’s leaving some nuance out of it, especially with regard to recent trends in nonpologies. The most recent nonpology comes from Vice President Cheney, after his comments where he said that he had Cheneys on both side of his family tree, and that he wasn’t even from West Virginia.
Cracked Magazine. Apply directly to the forehead.
May 28th, 2008 · No Comments
No longer are our magazine racks graced with Sylvester P. Smythe and the half-assed wannabe parodies of Cracked magazine. Instead, now the interwebs and website aggregators like Digg and FARK are cluttered with the New & Improved Cracked.

Jack, the brainless thompson gunner

Well, it’s official. Jack Thompson has gone off the deep end. A judge has reviewed a complaint by the Florida Bar Association leveled against anti-video game crusader Jack Thompson and recommended that he be found guilty on 27 of their 31 complaints.
